Over two guided days you'll explore Rapa Nui's main archaeological, ceremonial, and natural sites—culminating in one of the most breathtaking spectacles on the planet: the sun rising behind the fifteen Moai of Ahu Tongariki. An experience designed for those who want to understand the island's history and culture without missing a thing.
Day 1 — South Coast and Anakena
Places to visit: Vaihu · Akahanga · Rano Raraku · Te Pito Kura · Anakena
We begin at Vaihu, where the fallen Moai stand as silent witnesses to Rapa Nui's history, and continue to Akahanga, a fascinating archaeological site that reveals the remains of the island's ancient civilization. The route reaches its high point at Ahu Tongariki, where fifteen Moai stand imposingly before the ocean. We then visit the quarry of Rano Raraku, the volcano where the Moai were carved, and the mystical energy of Te Pito Kura, known for its remarkable magnetic stone. The day ends at the idyllic beach of Anakena, with its crystal-clear waters and white sand—the perfect place to relax after a day of exploration.
Day 2 — Tongariki Sunrise and the Island's Interior
Places to visit: Amanecer en Ahu Tongariki · Orongo · Rano Kau · Puna Pau · Ahu Akivi · Ana Te Pahu
The second day begins early so you can witness the sunrise at Ahu Tongariki, taking in the majesty of the fifteen Moai silhouetted against the dawn sky—a unique and unforgettable moment. Afterwards, we head to the Rano Kau volcano, with its stunning crater lake, and to the ceremonial village of Orongo, birthplace of the Birdman cult (Tangata Manu). We continue to Puna Pau, the quarry where the pukao (the Moai's red topknots) were carved, and to Ahu Akivi, one of the few sites whose seven Moai face the sea. We finish at Ana Te Pahu, one of the largest caves on the island, a natural shelter surrounded by lush vegetation.
